# HR Partner setup

HR Partner connects through the **unified HRIS connector**. This page covers the
HR Partner-side configuration you complete first. Once it's done, add the
connector in Mesh by following [Connect your HR
system](../connect-your-hr-system.md).

You finish with one value: an **API token**.

## Before you start

You need to be an **admin** in your company's HR Partner instance.

> **warning**

These steps reflect Axiad's current understanding of HR Partner's
configuration. Because HR Partner is a third-party product, there may be
variations between your experience and what this guide describes, depending on
the version in use and recent updates.

If you find a significant difference, or anything that doesn't make sense, let
us know through Axiad support.

## Step 1 — Open integration settings

Sign in as an admin, select **Setup** in the left navigation, then **Configure →
Integrations**.

## Step 2 — Enable API access

At the top of the integrations page, make sure **Enable API Access for external
applications** is checked.

> **caution**

With it unchecked, the token exists but is rejected, which looks like a bad
credential rather than a disabled setting.

## Step 3 — Copy the API token

## Step 4 — Connect in Mesh

Follow [Connect your HR system](../connect-your-hr-system.md), choose HR Partner
in the connection window, and paste the token.

## After connecting

The connector appears in your connectors list with **Health: Initializing**
while the first collection runs, then moves to **Good**. Access is
**read-only**: Mesh does not write back to HR Partner.

## Troubleshooting

| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| The token is rejected | **Enable API Access for external applications** is unchecked | Check it, then reconnect with the same token |
| You cannot see the integrations page | The account is not an HR Partner admin | Ask an admin to retrieve the token |
