# 7shifts setup

7shifts connects through the **unified HRIS connector**. This page covers the
7shifts-side configuration you complete first. Once it's done, add the connector
in Mesh by following [Connect your HR system](../connect-your-hr-system.md).

You finish with two values, both from the same place:

| Value | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| **Company ID** | Company Settings → Developer Tools |
| **Access token** | The same page |

## Before you start

- **Administrator access** to your company's 7shifts instance.
- Permission to use **Developer Tools** and create an access token.

These steps reflect Axiad's current understanding of 7shifts' configuration.
Because 7shifts is a third-party product, there may be variations between your
experience and what this guide describes, depending on the version in use and
recent updates.

If you find a significant difference, or anything that doesn't make sense, let
us know through Axiad support.

## Step 1 — Find your company ID

Go to **Company Settings → Developer Tools** and copy the company ID.

## Step 2 — Create an access token

On the same page, under **Access Token**, select **Create Access Token**, give
it a descriptive name, and copy the token.

## Step 3 — Connect in Mesh

Follow [Connect your HR system](../connect-your-hr-system.md), choose 7shifts in
the connection window, and supply the company ID and access token.

## After connecting

The connector appears in your connectors list with **Health: Initializing**
while the first collection runs, then moves to **Good**. Access is
**read-only**: Mesh does not write back to 7shifts.

## Troubleshooting

| What you see | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Developer Tools is not available | The account lacks permission to use it | Ask a 7shifts administrator to create the token |
| Authentication fails | The company ID and token are from different accounts | Take both from the same Developer Tools page |
